    Assume that the first bucket contains x seashells, another contains x - 2 and so on.

    x + (x - 2) + (x - 4) + (x - 6) + (x - 8) = 100

    5 x - 20 = 100

    5 x = 100 + 20

    5 x = 120

    x = 120 : 5

    x = 24 (in the 1st bucket)

    Verify: 24 + 22 + 20 + 18 + 16 = 100

    Answer: A) 24, 22, 20, 18, 16
