Renea wants to buy a new house for $240,000. the bank requires the tenth of the cost of the house as a down payment. Renae's mother volunteered to pay a third of the down payment as gift to her daughter.

    24,000 = is the amount for a down payment. (1/10 the original cost)

    8,000 = the amount of the down payment her mother is paying for (1/3 of the down payment)

    Thus she needs to pay 16,000$ to pay off the down payment
