    Let h = the depth of the pool (ft)

    h feet of the person will be in the pool, and 1.6 feet of the person is above the water. Because the person is 5.8 feet tall, therefore

    h + 1.6 = 5.8

    h = 5.8 - 1.6 = 4.2 feet

    Answer: 4.2 feet
