Use this data in the problem below. Follow the steps carefully. Round to the nearest tenth. Lot 1: Week 1: 600 Week 2: 300 Week 3: 500 Week 4: 900 Step 1. Jim enters the data and calculates the average or mean. Step 2. Jim calculates the deviation from the mean by subtracting the mean from each value. Step 3. Jim squares each deviation to remove negative signs. Step 4. Jim sums the squares of each deviation and divides by the count for the variance. Step 5. (1) average = (600 + 300 + 500 + 900) / 4 = 2300/4 = 575

    (2) 600 - 575 = 175

    300 - 575 = - 275

    500 - 575 = - 75

    900 - 575 = 325

    (3) 175^2 = 30625

    -275^2 = 75625

    -75^2 = 5625

    325^2 = 105625

    (4) (30625 + 75625 + 5625 + 105625) / 4 =

    217500 / 4 = 54375

    (5) sqrt 54375 = 233.18 rounds to 233.2
