A salt mixture has 8 parts water and 2 parts salt. Suppose one part of each is added. What is the new ratio of salt to water?

    The answer is 3:9 or simplify to 1:3

    2:8 plus one of each part is equal to 3:9 because 2+1:8+1. = 3:9
