    36x^4 + 12x^8 / 12x^4

= add the figures on the numerator as they are the the same figure

    48x^12 / 12x^8

= since no it's more simplified you can simplify it more since it's being divided

    =Both 48 and 12 are both divisible by 12

    48X^12 / 12x^8

    4x^12 / x^8

= since we simplified the coefficient we can now simply the x value

x12 is greater then x8 and therefore all the 8 would cancel out. 12 - 8 = 4 that means x12 has simplified to x4

    Therefor the answer is 4x^4
