    To find the area that Don will paint, you will need to find the area of each of the 6 faces that make up the cube. On a cube, all of these faces are congruent (exactly the same size and shape), so when we find the area of one face, we will multiply it by 6 to get the total area.

    Each face is in the shape of a square for the base and the height are the same.

    A = bh

    2 x 2

    A = 4 square inches

    4 square inches x 6 = 24 square inches.

    Don will paint 24 square inches.
