    Given:

    monthly budget = 155.60

    cost of movies = x

cost of video games = 2.5x

    movies + vidgames < budget

    x + 2.5x < 155.60

    3.5x < 155.60 * expression of inequality

    3.5x < 155.60

    :3.5 : 3.5

    x < 44.46

Travis should spend less than 44.46 on movies.

    Assuming movie cost 44.

    x + 2.5x < 155.60

    44 + 2.5 (44) < 155.60

    44 + 110 < 155.60

    154 < 155.60
