So think about it we have an unknown variable we multiply because we know she paints her rooms with 11/3 cans of paints so we multiply to find how many cans of paint she will need to paint her 7 room house so 11/3 times 7 11 times 7 is 77 then multiply the denominator we get 3 so its an improper fraction so 3 into 7 is 2 times so that leaves us with 2 1/3 is your answer

    You need to multiply.

    1 1/3 cans * 7 rooms

    = 1 1/3 * 7

    = 1 * 7 + 1/3 * 7

    = 7 + 7/3

    = 7 + 2 1/3

    = 9 1/3
