If a, b, and c are constants, is a (x-b) - c = ax - (ab+c) ?

    Yes, it is true.

    a (x-b) - c can be distributed to ax-ab-c

    If we look at the other side, we can distribute the - 1 to get ax-ab-c

    The two sides are equal.
