If the sales tax in your city is 4.7%, and an item coats $164 before tax, how much tax would you pay on that item? Round to the nearest hundredth or cent.

    Take the cost of the item $164 X 4.7% = $7.71 the tax on the item

    Then add price + tax = price paid.

    $164 + $7.71 = $171.71
