How is the function shown below related to y=x?

Graph the function by translating the parent function.

y=x+7

A. Each output of y=x+7 is one-seventh the corresponding output for y=x.

B. Each output of y=x+7 is seven more than the corresponding output for y=x.

C. Each output of y=x+7 is seven times the corresponding output for y=x.

D. Each output of y=x+7 is seven less than the corresponding output for y=x.

    Parent function: y = x.

    Translated function : y = x+7.

    We can see that 7 is added to the given parent fuction to get translated function.

    We know, f (x) = y + k, if k is a negative number, the graph would shift down and if k is a positive number, the graph would shift up.

    Because 7 is added and it is a positive number, parent graph will shift 7 units up.

    First we need to plot a graph for parent function y=x.

    Then we will move each and every y-coordinate 7 units up (only y-coodinates will change).

    And because it's just addition of 7, it would be 7 more and correct option would be option B.

    B. Each output of y=x+7 is seven more than the corresponding output for y=x.
