2/3 + w = 1 1/2
get a common denominator, 6
2/3 * 2/2 = 4/6
1/2 * 3/3 = 3/6
4/6 + w = 1 3/6
subtract 4/6 from each side
w = 1 3/6 - 4/6
change the 1 to a common denominator of 6
w = 6/6 + 3/6 - 4/6
W = 9/6 - 4/6
w = 5/6
Answer w = 5/6
