For me, I would want to find how many cups of spiced cider there are all together.

48 ounces equal 6 cups, as there are 8 ounces in every cup.

So now we can divide 6 by 7, as 7 people are splitting 6 cups of spiced cider.

    6:7=6/7

As you divide, you realize that it is going to become a fraction, and the numerator is smaller than the denominator, so it is less than 1. So each person will receive less that 1 cup of spiced cider.
