After the price of a CD player had been reduced to 1/4 of its original price, it was sold for $48. What was the original price?

    1/4 of its original price is 48 ...

    1/4x = 48 ... with x being the original price

    x = 48 / (1/4)

    x = 48 * 4/1

    x = 192 < = = original price
