Suppose a population of 40 crickets doubles in size every month. the function gives the population after x months. how many crickets will there be after 3 years?

    f (x) = 40 (2) ^x

    where x is in months

    he population after 3 years will be found as follows:

    x=3 years=3*12=36 months

    thus the population after 3 years will be:

    f (36) = 40 (2) ^36

    f (36) = 2.748779069*10^12
