The amount of money that college students spend on rent each month is usually between $300 and $600 however there are a few students who spend $1,300 what measure of spread would be most appropriate to measure the amount of money that college students spend on rent per month

    This data is extremely skewed because most of the data lies between $300 and $600 but there are large outliers of around $1300. In order to reflect accurately what most students spend, we need a resistant measure of centre because the data is so skewed.

    Therefore, we select median as the best measure of the amount of money college students spend on rent per month.
