Jill, Phil and Bill all read books at silent reading time. Jill gets 36 pages read. Bill reads twice as many pages as Phil. The three students read 117 pages altogether. How many pages did Phil read?

    Jill Equals 36, Let X Represent D Pages Read By Phil, Then Bill Wil Be 2*xequals 2x. They Read 117pages Altogether, Therefore, x+2x+36=117, collect the like terms, 3x=117-36, 3x=81, divide both sides by 3, x=27. phil read 27pages, while bill read 2*27=54pages
