    2x + y = 3

    6x = - 3y + 9

    6 6

    x = ⁻¹/₂y + 1¹/₂

    2 (⁻¹/₂y + 1¹/₂) + y = 3

    2 (⁻¹/₂y) + 2 (1¹/₂) + y = 3

    -y + 3 + y = 3

    -y + y + 3 = 3

    3 = 3

    The answer is B.
