The total snowfall in Smithville after a three day snow storm was 39.1 inches. The accumulated snow after the second day of the storm was 24.6 inches, two-thirds of which fell on the first day of the storm. How many inches of snow fell on each day?

    First + second + third = 39.1

    first = 2/3 (24.6)

    first = 16.4

    second = 24.6-16.4

    second = 8.2

    16.4 + 8.2 + third = 39.1

    24.6 + third = 39.1

    24.6 - 24.6 + third = 39.1-24.6

    third = 14.5

    First day = 16.4 in

    Second day=8.2 in

    Third day = 14.5 in
