The height, h, in metres, of an Oregon pine tree can be estimated using the formula h=35∛d², where d is the diameter at the base, in metres. Determine the approximate

height of an Oregon pine tree with a base radius of 2.3 m, to the nearest tenth of a metre.

    The approximate height of an Oregon pine tree is 96.81 meters.

    h = 35 ∛d²

    r = 2.3 m

    d = r * 2 = 2.3 * 2 = 4.6

    h = 35 ∛4.6²

    = 35 ∛ 21.16

    = 35 * 2.766

    = 96.81 m
