Ciara bakes banana bread and zucchini bread and sells the loaves at a farmers' market. last saturday, the number of loaves of banana bread that she sold was 4 more than twice the number of loaves of zucchini bread. if she sold a total of 25 loaves of bread, how many loaves of banana bread did she sell?

    To solve this problem, we are going to have to write 2 equations from the problems.

    First, the number of loaves of banana bread was 4 more than twice the number of zucchini loaves. B = 2Z + 4

    Second, altogether there was 25 loaves. B + Z = 25

    To solve, we can substitute the first equation into the second equation.

    (2Z + 4) + Z = 25

    3Z + 4 = 25

    3Z = 21

    Z = 7

    If there was 7 loaves of zucchini bread, then there must have been 18 loaves of banana bread to make 25 total loaves.
