    Well we have to start with 1/2 of the sum. i will represent sum as s and say i have 1/2 of s and so this is:

    1/2 * s

    now for the second part "the sum of a number and 10" where number = n

    so the sum of n and 10 is:

    n + 10

    in the first part i represented the sum of the numbers with s and so now i know that:

    s = n + 10

    plugging this into the top i get

    1/2 * (n + 10)

    or

    1/2n + 1/2 * 10

    however i do not see this answer listed but i do not see how it could be wrong

    The sum of a number and 10 means:

    n+10

    And one half of that is:

    (n+10) / 2
