A thermometer comes with a guarantee that the displayed temperature differs from the actual temperature by no more than 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit. Write and solve an equation to find the minimum and maximum actual temperatures when the thermometer displays 54.5 degrees Fahrenheit.

    Actual temp = 87.4 ± 1.5 deg. F, so you can add to get maximum true temp, and subtract to get minimum true temp.
