Ken wants to rent a car for a week and to pay no more than $130. How far can he drive if the car rental costs $94 a week plus $0.40 a mile?

    We have the following inequation:

    0.4x+94≤130

    We solve the inequality:

    0.4x≤130-94

    0.4x≤36

    x≤36/0.4

    x≤90

    Answer: the maximum distance will be 90 miles
