A friend wrote the expression 5 (x+2) as 5x+2. Write a few sentences to them explaining the error. Then rewrite it correctly.

    When multiplying with a polynomial, you distribute the outside number with both terms. So 5 would seperately multiple into x and 2

    5 (x+2)

    5x + (5 x 2)

    5x+10 is the correct answer
