three friends went out to dinner. Each person payed $10 too total $30. The waiter came back and said your bill is $25 my mistake. So he brought back $5 but he didn't know how to split it amongst the three friends evenly. He gave back each of the friends $1 and pocketed $2 so their new total is $9 per meal and the total is now $27. So $27 plus the $2 be pockted is a total of $29 out of $30 where did the $1 go?

    The bill was actually $25 and the waiter kept $2 so 25 + 2 = $27

    $27 / 3 people = $9 per person.

They each originally paid 10, but were given 1 back: 10 - 1 = 9, so they each ended up paying $9 each ... there is no extra dollar.
