    4x + 3.50 = 44. this equation is wrong because 3.50 is only good for 1 child. there are 4 children so, 3.50 must be multiplied by 4.

    Correct equation is: 4x + 14 = 44 where 14 = 4 * 3.50

    let x be the cost of the movie ticket.

    number of children = 4

    total cost of movie tickets = 4x

    total cost of snacks = 4 (3.50)

    total cost = 44

    TC of movie tickets + TC of snacks = 44

    4x + 4 (3.5) = 44

    4x + 14 = 44

    4x = 44 - 14

    4x = 30

    4x / 4 = 30 / 4

    x = 7.50 cost of movie ticket
