Carol and Nora left the library at the same time. Carol biked east at a speed of 8 miles per hour. Nora biked west at a speed of 10 miles per hour. How far apart were Carol and Nora after 3 hours?

    They will be 54 miles apart in 3 hours. If Carol bikes 8 mph you would multiply the amount of hours by how fast she is going to get how far she went. You would then do the same with Nora. 8x3 = 24. 10x3 = 30. You would then add how far they both got considering they went in opposite directions. 30+24 = 54.
