Earnest is baking, but he wants to use only one measuring cup. He needs 1/2 cup of sugar and 3/4 cup of flour. What size measuring cup should he use: 1/2 cup, 1/3 cup, or 1/4 cup? Explain.

    Earnest will have to use the 1/4 cup because the measurements are made by fourths and the 1/2 is equivalent to 1/4 because 3/4 + 1/4=1 whole
