A store sells peanuts by the pound. Jerry paid 4.59 for 5.4 pounds of peanuts. At that rate, how much would he pay for 7.8 pounds of peanuts

    If $4.59 = 5.4 peanuts

    $x = 7. 8 peanuts

    Cross multiply and you get:

    5.4x = (4.59) (7.8)

    x = ((4.59) (7.8)) / 5.4

    x = $6.63
