Since both equations are set equal to y, they can be set equal to eact other to find x. So (5x-9=3x+7) Combine like terms so the equation is (2x=16) Then divide by 2 on both sides to get (x=8). Then to solve for Y, plug x into the equation Y = 3x+7. 3*8=24 so 24+7=Y so Y=31.
