Let the variable x be the number of miles. Then the problem can be modeled with the inequality 0.5x + 3 x is the number of miles. To solve, first subtract 3 from each side, then divide each side by 0.5. The solution is x

    3+.5x<10

    3+.5*15<10

    3+7.5<10

    10.5<10

It is not true so he would take the bus
