In a shipment of 400 parts 14 found to be defective how many defective parts should be expected in a shipment of 1000

    400x2 = 800 so cut that in half to get 200 and add that to equal 1000

    for the defectives you would go 14x2 = 28 so cut 14 in half which equals 7 so add 7 so you end up with 35 defective parts
