Distance. For a given speed, the distance traveled varies directly with the time. Kate's school is 5 miles away from her home and it takes her 10 minutes to reach

the school. If Josh lives 2 miles from school and travels at the same speed as Kate,

how long will it take him to reach the school?

    So here we need to use the formula: Distance = Rate * Time

    So for Kate, 5 = r10, so rate = 1/2

    Saying that Josh travels at the same speed, means he's traveling at the same rate

    So for Josh, 2 = 1/2t, so time = 4 minutes
