At a depth of X metres, the temperature of the water is an ocean is T°C. At depths below 900 meters, T is inversely proportional to X. T is given by T=4500/X. Work out the difference in the temperature of the water at a depth of 1200 metres and the temperature of the water at a depth of 3750 metres.

    Hi there! The answer is 2.55°C

    To find our answer we must plug in the values of X into the formula.

    Depth = 1200 metres - - > x = 1200 - - > T = 4500 / 1200 = 3.75 °C

    Depth = 3750 metres - - > x = 3750 - - > T = 4500 / 3750 = 1.2 °C

    The difference of the temperatures is 3.75 °C - 1.2°C = 2.55°C
