Maria bought a bag of marbles. There were twice as many purple ones as red ones. There were 93 marbles in all. How many of each color marble were there?

    You would start with 93/3 which gets you 31 red marbles.

    Since there is twice as many purple ones as there is red ones you would do 31 x 2 or 31 + 31 which gets you 62 purple marbles.
