There are two red suits of 13 cards ... 3 face cards in a suit and 2 red suits, so there are 6 red face cards. Thus, ... A five card hand is drawn from a standard deck of 52 cards.

You have a 1 in 2 chance of drawing a red card. Since half of the deck is red.

    2 red suits of 13 = 26 red cards

    2 black suits of 13 = 26 black cards

so you have a 26 in 52 chance all together which breaks down to 1 in 2 or 50%
