So expressing something as a percent means how much is in 100 part of something.

For example 30% means 30 parts per 100.

This can be written as a fraction in the from 30/100 right?

    So 190% is 190/100.

To simplify the number we have to divide both numbers by the highest comment factor.

In this case it is 10 right? no other number above 10 are factors for both 100 and 190 right?

So dividing 190 and 100 by 10 gives you 19/10 right?

So that is expressing it as a fraction.

Now the numerator is bigger than the denominator right?

To convert to a mixed fraction you have to find out how much of the numerator goes in the denominator OK?

    So 19 goes 1 time in 10right?

So we have 1 as the whole number.

No we have to multiply the whole number by the denominator and subtract the result from the numerator.

So 1 multiplied by 10 gives you 10 and 10 minus 19 gives you 9 right?

So you have 9 as the numerator.

Now simply put 10 (the original denominator) as the denominator here.

    So you get 1 9/10
