    Ordinal

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Let's assume recession happens in the following years:

    ==> 1950, 1979, 1990 and 2002.

    We say, recession happens in 1950 and after 29 years, another recession happens ... etc.

    Therefore, as we can see, it is a categorical observation in terms of year that it happens. Then, since it can be ranked. That is, it can take position or movement (changes), then we say it is ordered.

    Or simple terms, lets see it as year of birth. A recession born in 1950 is older than the one born in 1979. Since the interest is particularly on the year in which it occurred.

    Or we can give position instead. By saying, the 1st recession occurred in 1950, the 2nd recession occurred in 1979, the 3rd recession occurred in 1990 and the last recession occurred in 2002.

    Thus;

    1950 - 1st year recession occurred

    1979 - 2nd year recession occurred

    1990 - 3rd year recession occurred

    2002 - 4th year recession occurred.

    NB: The year is not necessarily the global year of recession, it is only meant for explanation.
