Heron's formula: Area = An equilateral triangle has a semiperimeter of 6 meters. What is the area of the triangle? Round to the nearest square meter. 2 square meters 7 square meters 20 square meters 78 square meters

    Ok so if the half of the perimeter is 6. 6*2=12 ...

    There are three sides so 12/3 = 4 ... 4m is the length of each side.

    If we draw a line straight down the top of the triangle down to the middle of the base ... this line would be the height of the eq. triangle. This gives us a right triangle where a is unknown, b = 2, and c=4

    a^2+b^2=c^2

    a^2+4=16

    a=2*sqrt3

    a is the height of the eq.

    The area of the eq = 1/2 * base * height

    A = (1/2) * 4*2sqrt3

    A=6.93

    So 7m^2 is the answer
