The ration is 4 cups water:1 cup vinegar so c cups water:12 cups vinegar 4 water/1 vinegar = c water/12 vinegar cross multiply so 12 times 1 and 4 times c so you get 12/4c divide both sides by 4 and you get 3 c=3
