    First number is x

    second is y

    4x=1

    x+2y=-20

    solve for x first

    4x=1

    divide by 4

    x=1/4=0.25

    sub

    x+2y=-20

    0.25+2y=-20

    minus 0.25 from both sides

    2y=-20.25

    divide both sides by 2

    y=-10.125

    the first number is 0.25 the second is - 10.125

    or, in fraction form

    the first number is 1/4 and the second is - 10 and 1/8
