The longest side of a triangle is six more units than the shortest side. The third side is twice the length of the shortest side. If the perimeter of the triangle is 25 units, write and solve an equation to find the lengths of all 3 sides of the triangle

    Answer:Let x represent the length of the longest side. Then the perimeter is

    ... x + (x - 6) + 2 (x - 6) = 25

    ... 4x - 18 = 25

    ... 4x = 43

    ... x = 43/4 = 10 3/4

    Then x - 6 = 4 3/4.

    And twice that is 8 3/2 = 9 1/2

    The lengths of the sides are 10 3/4, 4 3/4, 9 1/2.
