    0.95y ounces of salt in the solution B

    0.7x + 0.95y = 40

    x + y = 50

    0.7x + 0.95y = 40

    x = 50 - y

    0.7 (50 - y) + 0.95y = 40

    35 - 0.7y + 0.95y = 40

    0.25y = 5

    y = 20 ounces of solution B

    x = 50 - y = 50 - 20 = 30 ounces of solution A
