One month, Jill worked 2 more hours than Ivan, and Susie worked three times as many hours as Jill. Together they works 48 hours. Find the number of hours each person worked

    Let us assume Ivan worked = x hours.

    Jill worked 2 more hours than Ivan.

    Therefore, jill worked = x + 2 hours.

    Susie worked three times as many hours as Jill.

    Therefore, Susie woked 3 times of number of hours of Jill = 3 (x+2).

    Total number of hours they worked together = 48 hours.

    Number of hours Ivan worked + Number of hours Jill worked + Number of hours Susie worked = 48.

    Therefore,

    x + x+2 + 3 (x+2) = 48.

    Distributing 3 over (x+2), we get 3x + 6.

    Therefore,

    x + x+2 + 3 (x+2) = 48

    => x+x+2+3x+2 = 48.

    Combining like terms, we get

    5x + 4 = 48.

    Subtracting 4 from both sides, we get

    5x + 4-4 = 48-4.

    5x = 44.

    Dividing both sides by 5, we get

    x = 44/5 hours or 8 4/5 hours.

    Therefore, Ivan worked = 8 4/5 hours.

    Jill worked = x + 2 hours = 8 4/5 hours + 3 = 11 4/5 hours.

    Susie woked = 3 (x+2) = 3 (44/5 + 2) = 3 (54/5) = 162/5 hours or 32 2/5 hours.
