How do you solve this 2y/3-9 = 2y+3

    y = - 5

    Multiply both sides by 3

    you get (2y-27=6y+9)

    Subtract 2y from both sides

    Simplify 6y+9-2y to 4y+9

    Subtract 9 from both sides

    Simplify - 27-9 to - 36

    Divide both sides by 4

    Simplify 36/4 to 9

    Then switch the sides to get,

    y = - 9
