A 20 cm drinking straw sits diagonally in a glass of radius 3 cm and height 10 cm. what length of straw in the glass?

    This is a Pythagorean Theorem problem. We don't need to know how long the whole straw is.

    3^2 + 10^2 = x^2

    9 + 100 = x^2

    109 = x^2

    x = sqrt 109
