A graphics company charges $50 per hour to create a logo plus $250 for the ownership rights of the logo. A private contractor charges $75 per hour to develop a logo plus a $100 supply fee. Which equation can be solved to determine x, the number of hours after which the costs would be the same? 50x + 250 = 75x + 100 50 + 250x = 75 + 100x 50x + 100 = 75x + 250 50 + 100x = 75 + 250x

Use the variable x for hours in each of the following equations. (50*x) + 250 for the graphics company charge. (75*x) + 100 for the private contractor. Set the first equation equal to the second equation in order to solve for the number of hours worked. (50*x) + 250 = (75*x) + 100. So, 50x + 250 = 75x + 100. Subtract 100 from each side. 50x + 150 = 75x. Subtract 50x from both sides. 150 = 25x. Divide both sides by 25 to determine the number of hours after which the cost would be the same. (150/25) = (25x/25). 8 = x. So at 8 hours, the costs would be the same at both companies. The answer is 50x+250=75x+100
