Miss Vega bought 2 1/2 pounds of chicken 2 5/8 pounds of ground beef 1 3/4 pounds of sausage and 3 1/4 pounds of oranges find the total weight of these purchases

    Make all of the fractions have the same denominator you would need to make them all 8 because that is the highest denominator so to make 1/2 have a denominator of 8 u need to multiply 2 by 4 and multiply 1 by 4 also. (whatever u do to the top u have to do it to the bottom too) so 1/2=4/8. do the same with all the fractions 1/4=2/8, 3/4=6/8, 5/8=5/8 and 1/2 = 4/8. then add em all up 2/8+6/8+5/8+4/8=17/8 then make it a mixed fraction 17 can go into 8 2 times with one left over so the final fraction will be 2 1/8 lb.
